Reference Number for National Register. This number typically started with a 2 digits to represent the year then 2 or 3 zeros to seperate the number of the listing that year. For example, with 66000359, 66 was the year 1966 and 359 was the three hundreth fifty ninth listing of the year. These numbers worked until the new millennium when some software would not display the numbers correctly as they would not print leading zeros.
After this time the numbering convention has been more difficult to discern.
At times certain properties have had their boundaries expanded and another NRHP number assigned when this has occurred in the dasebase the same property may have 2 or more different numbers.
